Talked on False teachers and false teachings:
Example- Apollo Quiboloy
Everyone has an agenda, but their agenda is either deceptive, partially good, or pure. It’s up to us to discern.
Some False teachings range from making demands from the Mosaic Law and others from a hyper grace message.
Generally false teachings are either in the camp of legalism or in the camp of licentiousness.
Acts 15 teaches us that we are no longer under the Mosaic Law, but we are under Christ and his teachings.
Facebook is a great tool and it can be used for so much good. It can also be abused and used for many wrong things as well. We need to be discerning about who we listen to, and never assume someone is teaching truth just because they have a large following, etc..
Good teaching leads people to the ability to harmonize scripture. Bad teaching will leave people conflict with the teachings of Jesus and the apostles. If what you are being taught causes creates tension and conflict when you read the teachings of Jesus, than you need to reconsider what you have been listening to.
There is false religion and then there is pure religion. James 1:26-27
History Lesson from Israel’s Prophets:
2 Peter 2:1
The verses below will show what the false prophets said.
In essence they water down God’s word, as a result Israel suffered many consequences that were preventable.
Jeremiah 5:31
Jeremiah 6:13-14
Jeremiah 14:13-14
So it is today, false teachers will tell us that Jesus did not really mean what he said, they will find excuses and isolated verses to diminish his tone, warning, seriousness, and directness towards us. They will pick and choose what verses they deem relevant and which ones they deem old and not applicable. They will ultimately make Christ in the image that they think is best, and they will twist scripture to do this.
Ending:
The call is for us to be aware and alert.
John 14:6 Jesus is the way, truth, and life.
Matthew 22:37 Jesus taught is us that the greatest thing we could do was to love him.
John 14:21 Jesus taught us that the way we love him was to obey him, follow him, and keep his teachings.
